Terms of Service
Last updated: 12 July 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the NannyTank app and website. By creating an account or using NannyTank, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the app. NannyTank is operated by Reynard du Toit (support@nannytank.co.za).
2. What NannyTank is (and isn't)
NannyTank is a subscription software tool that helps au pairs and nannies log their working hours and kilometres, automatically calculate overtime and monthly pay, and generate and submit a claim to their employer. An employer can also use NannyTank: once an au pair connects them, the employer can view that au pair's hours and claims, approve claims, record that a claim has been paid, and share a schedule. Approving or marking a claim as paid inside NannyTank is only a record between the two of you — it does not move any money (see section 5).
NannyTank also provides a marketplace: au pairs can publish a profile and browse and apply to jobs, and families and agencies can post jobs and browse au pair profiles and get in touch. This is a listing and introduction service that helps people find each other — see section 6 for how it works and your responsibilities when using it.
NannyTank is not an employer, an employment or placement agency, a recruiter, a payroll provider, or a financial or payment service, and is not a party to the relationship between an au pair and their employer or agency. We do not select, screen, vet, background-check, endorse or guarantee any user, profile, job or arrangement. We provide a tool and a place to connect — how you and the other person use it, and any employment or payment arrangement between you, is between you.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use NannyTank.
- You sign in using your Google account or a one-time email code, and choose whether you are using NannyTank as an au pair, an employer, or an agency. You are responsible for keeping that access secure.
- Connecting an au pair and an employer for the hours-and-claims features is started by the au pair sharing a pairing code. Only pair with a person you actually work with, and only share your code with your own employer. Either side can disconnect at any time. (Finding someone new to work with is what the marketplace in section 6 is for.)
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
- Your account is for your personal use — please don't share it or let others use it on your behalf.
4. Subscription, billing and cancellation
- Free trial: New accounts get a 14-day free trial — no card details required.
- Price: After the trial, continued access requires a subscription of R59 per month, billed automatically each month until you cancel.
- Payments: All payments are processed by Paystack. Your card details are entered and held by Paystack — NannyTank never sees or stores your full card number.
- Cancellation: You can cancel any time from the Subscription screen in Settings. Cancelling stops future billing; you keep access until the end of your current paid period.
- Refunds: Because the trial is free and you can cancel before any charge, we generally don't offer refunds for partial months. If you believe you were charged in error, email support@nannytank.co.za and we'll put it right.
5. How payments work (no money flows between users)
The only payment NannyTank collects is your own monthly subscription, paid by you to NannyTank through Paystack. NannyTank does not process, hold, or transfer any money between au pairs and employers. A claim you generate is sent to your employer as an email/Excel document, and any payment of that claim happens directly between you and your employer, outside of NannyTank.
6. Using the marketplace (listings, contact and safety)
The marketplace lets au pairs publish a profile and browse and apply to jobs, and lets families and agencies post jobs and browse profiles and get in touch. It is free to use. The following applies whenever you use it.
We do not vet or verify anyone. NannyTank does not check or confirm the identity, background, references, qualifications, police clearances, right to work, character, or any credential, document or statement of any user. The credential "badges" shown on a profile are self-declared by the au pair and are not verified by us. We do not endorse, recommend or guarantee any user, profile or job, and we do not guarantee that you will find a job, a placement or a hire, or that any profile or listing is accurate, genuine or up to date.
You are responsible for your own checks and safety. You alone decide who to contact, work with, hire, or allow into your home, and you are responsible for doing your own due diligence before you do. Because this often involves children, this matters a great deal. At a minimum, we strongly encourage you to:
- confirm the other person's identity and interview them yourself;
- check references and any qualifications or certificates directly with the source;
- obtain and verify a current police or background clearance;
- meet in a safe, public place first, and take the ordinary precautions you would with anyone you don't know.
You engage and communicate with other users at your own risk. NannyTank is not a party to, and is not responsible or liable for, any communication, introduction, arrangement, engagement, payment, act or omission, or dispute between users, or for the conduct of any user — whether online or in person.
Your listings and conduct. You are responsible for everything you publish. Profiles and job posts must be accurate, your own, and lawful, and you must have the right to use any photo or information you upload. You agree not to post false, misleading, discriminatory, harassing or unlawful content, not to impersonate anyone, and not to include another person's personal information without their consent. When someone shares their contact details with you to enquire or apply, use those details only to respond about that enquiry — not to send spam or marketing, or for any other purpose. Do not scrape, copy or harvest profiles, listings or contact details from the marketplace.
Reporting and removal. If you see anything suspicious, unsafe, false or abusive, please report it to support@nannytank.co.za. We may remove any profile, listing or content, and suspend or terminate any account, at our discretion.
7. Acceptable Use Policy
When using NannyTank, you agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive purpose, including logging or claiming hours or kilometres you did not actually work or travel;
- Impersonate any person, or misrepresent your identity or your relationship with your employer;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app, to other users' data, or to our systems;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the app, or attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy it or its underlying software;
- Upload or transmit malicious code, or any content that is unlawful, harassing, or infringes someone else's rights;
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app or access to it without our permission;
- Use the app to harass, threaten, or harm any other person.
We may suspend or terminate any account that breaches this policy.
8. Your data and content
You own the data you enter (hours, kilometres, settings, and so on). You are responsible for its accuracy — NannyTank's calculations and claims are generated from what you enter and the rates and hours you set up. How we handle your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
Profiles and listings you publish. You keep ownership of the profile or job listing you create, but by publishing it you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display it publicly in the NannyTank directory and jobs board (on our website and in the app) so that others can find it, for as long as you keep it published. You confirm that what you publish is true, is your own, and that you have the right to use any photo or information in it, and you agree it is not false, misleading, discriminatory, or in breach of anyone else's rights or privacy. You can unpublish a profile or delete a listing at any time.
Shared schedule and comments. If you are connected to an au pair or employer, the entries you add to the shared schedule and the comments you post are visible to that connected person, and both of you can add, edit or delete them. You are responsible for what you post, and you agree not to post anything unlawful, false, misleading, harassing, defamatory, or in breach of anyone else's rights or privacy. Please don't put sensitive personal information (for example ID numbers or banking details) in schedule entries or comments. We may remove content that breaches these Terms.
Reviews and ratings. If you rate or review NannyTank, you keep ownership of what you write, but you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, use, and display it in connection with NannyTank. If you choose the option to feature your review, you agree that we may display it publicly — including on our website and in materials promoting NannyTank — alongside the display name you choose. You confirm your review is your own honest opinion and is not false, misleading, defamatory, or in breach of anyone else's rights. We may lightly edit a review for length or spelling, or to standardise how the product name is written, without changing its meaning, and we may decline to publish, or remove, any review at our discretion. You can withdraw your consent to be featured, or ask us to remove your featured review, at any time by emailing support@nannytank.co.za.
9. Disclaimers
NannyTank is provided "as is" and "as available." It is a record-keeping and calculation tool and a listing/introduction service — not legal, tax, payroll, or financial advice, and not a vetting, screening or placement service. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted or error-free. You are responsible for checking that your logged hours, rates, and claims are correct before relying on or submitting them, and for your own checks on anyone you find through the marketplace (see section 6). NannyTank is not responsible for any dispute between you and your employer, au pair or agency, for the accuracy or genuineness of any profile or listing, for whether or how a claim is paid, or for the conduct of any user.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, NannyTank and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
11. Disputes and governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. For any billing query, complaint, or dispute, please contact us first at support@nannytank.co.za and we'll work with you in good faith to resolve it. Card-payment disputes may also be raised through your bank or through Paystack's standard dispute process.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use NannyTank after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
