NannyTank is an au pair management app for au pairs, families and agencies. It helps au pairs track working hours, overtime, kilometres, fuel claims and monthly claims in one place, and gives families and agencies a clearer way to manage schedules, records and placements. It is built in South Africa and used in 12 countries.
NannyTank started with one au pair and one recurring evening. Kayla — the founder's girlfriend — would lose a whole night at the end of every month to the same admin: counting hours out of a notebook, adding up kilometres, wrestling a spreadsheet, second-guessing her overtime, and hoping the claim looked professional enough to send.
It was tedious. Worse, it was expensive. Trips she had forgotten to write down and overtime she could not prove were simply money she did not get paid.
That is the actual problem NannyTank solves, and it is a smaller and more specific problem than "au pair software".
Nobody in this industry was covering it. South African au pair agencies are placement businesses — they earn on the match, so their content and their tools stop at "get matched". What happens afterwards, every month, for the whole placement, was left to a notebook and a spreadsheet. That gap is the whole company.
Hours, overtime, kilometres and fuel claims, logged as the day happens and compiled into a monthly claim the employer approves in one tap. The employer's side is free.

Three audiences with genuinely different needs, which is the hard part.
The primary user. The person who did the work and has to prove it.
Employers who want the month to be accurate and settled without a negotiation. Their view of the app is free.
Placement businesses who want their candidates to look organised and their placements to last.
When those interests conflict, we build for the au pair. She is the one whose unrecorded hours go unpaid.
NannyTank is young. It was built in the open, in 2026.
May 2026
Development starts. The first version does one thing: log an au pair's hours and kilometres on a phone.
June 2026
The app goes multi-country — 12 countries and 5 languages, with local currency and distance units — and works offline as an installable web app.
July 2026
The free employer view arrives: host families connect with a pairing code, approve the month and generate payslips. The free marketplace opens, and the first documents go on sale.
August 2026
Photo-to-schedule scanning ships — photograph the family's fridge whiteboard and the week becomes a draft schedule to review.
September 2026
Country-by-country rules published for au pairs as well as employers, after verifying all 12 against primary government sources.
